The Funeral of Jack Ross- A Preacher's Liberality
  The funeral of Jack Ross, so foully murdered by James Coombs, took place in 
Carson yesterday and was largely attended, there being 60 carriages in line.  
The services at the church were very impressive.  Rev. G.W. Davis preached a 
sermon that was intently listened to by a large crowd, among whom were many 
who had not seen the inside of a church for years.  The discourse was a credit 
to the preacher, who surmised that, though deceased sold whiskey and gambled, 
he had good qualities wich many professed Christians lack.  It is refreshing 
to see a clergyman throw off orthodox restrictions and speak well of a man who 
dies outside the fold.
