A. Raycraft Answers Call Prominent Resident of Carson City Expires Suddenly After Long Illness James A. Raycraft, one of the pioneer residents of Nevada, died suddenly at his home yesterday morning at 10 o'clock of heart disease. At the time of his demise he was dressing to go to the train to meet his daughter, who was returning from California. Mr. Raycraft resided in Nevada for about 50 years, during all of which time he was actively engaged in business. Although he had been in ill health for the last year, his sudden death was unexpected. For a number of years the deceased was engaged in the livery at Carson City. He handled several important mail contracts in that time and conducted several stage lines. The Raycraft family was a history makes for Nevada and the deceased was one of its most active members. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Madge Raycraft, a sister of Mrs. Frank Golden of Reno. There are seven children. Morris, Hubert, Arthur, Joe, Kenneth, Dorothy and Marguerite. All but one are residents of Carson City. Five brothers also survive. They are Jack, Ed, Richard and Jerry of Genoa, and Arthur of San Francisco. There are two sisters, Mrs. Judge Virgin and Mrs. Campbell of Genoa.
