FORT HALLECK CEMETERY
                           ELKO COUNTY

"This cemetery was established with the founding of Fort Halleck, Elko County,
Nevada, in 1867; and was abandoned many years ago. The miliary graves were
removed to the Presidio in San Francisco, California. There are approximately
twenty-five graves marked by illegible wooden head boards or wooden palings.
There may be more, but due to fallen trees, sagebrush and undergrowth, it is
impossible to be accurate." Survey conducted 1957 for the D.A.R.
