Drink Did It

On Saturday morning a wagon maker by the name of W. W. Clemons, whose family
reside at Tuscarora, entered the back door of the Humboldt Brewery saloon at
Elko, with his right ear cut off, the left one nearly severed and a slight cut
on the right side of his throat.  He was taken to the hospital where he died a
few hours afterward.  The Coroner’s jury rendered a verdict that he came to his
death by his own hands.  The evidence showed that he had been drinking heavily
for some time, and that the act was committed during a period of temporary
insanity, superinduced by inordinate drink.
