Auditor Dies from Ptomaine Poisoning

F.W. Barker Dies After Suffering for Several Days from Disease

F.W. Barker, bookkeeper in the auditor’s office of the T.&G. railroad, died this
morning about 5 o’clock at St. Mary’s hospital, of ptomaine poisoning.  He was
taken sick Saturday evening, but did not appreciate the gravity of the trouble.
 Situated in a warm, comfortable apartment in the railroad building, surrounded
by half a hundred associates, he did not complain particularly or seek medical
aid until Monday morning, when Dr. Dunham was called. Immediately the physician
saw that the disease had him gripped and ordered removal to the hospital.  At
first his case seemed to yield to treatment then a reaction set in and he sank
into death.

Mr. Barker was a native of Massachusetts, 46 years of age.  His parents live at
Cambridge.  His father is connected with the pension department.  A sister is a
professor in Carnegie Institute, New York.  He leaves no immediate family.
The place of interment will be decided by his family in the east- Goldfield
Tribune.
