J. C. Ambrose, Pastor of the M.E. Church, A. D. Wilcox, J. M. Garrison and his stepson, W. H. Minor, and Charles Akin, left here, says the Silver State, on a hunting trip to the Jackson Creek Mountains. Last night Willie Minor arrived in town, bringing the sad and startling intelligence that Mr. Ambrose died Saturday night in camp. The gentleman was quite portly, and had traveled a good deal Saturday. He ate some supper, complaining of feeling tired, and remarking that he would have a good rest next day, meaning Sunday, went to bed, and in a few minutes died in a peaceful slumber. His body was brought to Abel’s wood camp yesterday, and will arrive here to-day. Mr. Ambrose came here from Catalac, Michigan, about the 1st of October last, and assumed the pastorate of the M. E. Church. He was a man of much more than ordinary ability, and was esteemed and respected by all who knew him. He leaves three children, whose ages ranges, from seven to eleven years, and an estimable wife, who grief God alone can assuage.
