After the burial of the old chief a mob of women went to the camp and stoned to death his young wife and her 3 year-old child. It is said that the wife and child had been kept close prisoners for two months awaiting the result of the old man’s illness. The whites were kept in ignorance of what was going on until the woman and child were murdered.
