Reno Evening Gazette February 19, 1888
James D. Ryan, Auditor of Lander county, who died at Austin on the 9th instant,
was a resident of the Comstock in 1863.  It would seem that he was not unmindful
of that city and her people in his last moments.  The Austin Reveille of Feb. 13
says:
The will of the late James D. Ryan has been taken from the safe and its contents
noted.  After making several bequests to the citizens here, he has willed the
most of his money to Virginia City Orphan Asylum and to another asylum under
which a designated Sister presides.
