Passing of Old Pioneer

G.S. Moore, Formerly of Lander County, Dies at Watsonville

G.S. Moore, a pioneer resident of Galena, Lander county, died at his home in
Watsonville, Cal., Friday, March 22, at the age of 84, after suffering ten days
from the ills incident to old age.  He was born in Tennessee, March 24, 1828. 
In 1848 he left his native state and made his way to the great west, arriving in
Portland, Ore.

Death came peacefully in the presence of all his children except Mrs. Theresa
Layton, whose home is Grants Pass, Ore.  He is survived by seven children.  They
are: Mrs. Theresa Layton of Grants Pass, Ore.; Mrs. M.S. Thubey of Fort Collins,
Colo.; F. M. Moore of Napa, Cal.; Mrs. E. L. Dutertre of Golconda, Nev.; W. G.
Moore of Watsonville, and Mrs. Amelia Mellander, also of the same place. 
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon and burial took place in the
I.O.O.F. cemetery.
