Reno Evening Gazette August 12, 1881
After a brief illness, C. D. Spires died August 10th at Austin.  He has been a
resident of that place since 1863, and during the time has held the offices of
County Clerk, Recorder and Assessor.  He was the Democratic candidate for State
Controller in 1872.
