	George Stamatz 


George Stamatz Dies Recently


Battle Mountain - Jan. 28, 1956 - George Stamatz, Sr., 66, died at Battle 
Mountain General hospital Jan. 24, after a lingering illness.

	Mr. Stamatz was born in Austria and came to America at the age 
of 8, accompanied by an uncle and aunt.  He grew to manhood in Sioux Falls, S. D. 
and later worked in mines in Arizona before coming to Nevada 19 years ago.  
He worked for many years at Copper Canyon Mining company and later for 
Barium Products Lts.

	Survived by his widow, Elsie, a son, George Stamatz Jr., a star 
athlete at Porterville Jr. College.
