MEXICAN KILLING 

Saturday night last, at a point about a mile south of 
Vigo siding in Meadow Valley Wash, two Mexicans from 
Hoyt’s camp engaged in deadly combat with knives.  
The trouble began over a gambling game in which both 
had been engaged.  A young Spaniard called “Mexican Joe” 
was stabbed many times and  finally died about 11 o’clock 
the next morning from loss of blood.  The name of his 
assailant is unknown.

The matter was investigated  by coroner Maynard of Caliente, 
and the remains buried beside the track where death occurred.  
Deputy Sheriff Chas. Lee is making an effort to run down the 
murderer.
