Reno Evening Gazette September 21, 1883
His Final Sleep
A dispatch from Pioche, dated September 18, says: News comes this morning that
at 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon George Week, night foreman at the Day mine, was
found in a dying condition from an overdose of laudanum.  He was in the habit of
taking the drug, and is supposed to have accidentally taken too much, an died
from its effects at 19 o’clock last night.  He was a pioneer settler of Eastern
Nevada, and was well known throughout the State.
