MURDER AT CALIENTE

    In a drunken row at Caliente on the 19th, A. E. WIRT was shot and 
killed by J. B. MURPHY.  Walter MURPHY, a brother of the slayer, had his 
arm shattered, probably by one of the shots fired by his brother.  The 
preliminary hearing before Justice MAYNARD resulted in a charge of 
murder being placed against J. B. MURPHY and he was held without bail to 
answer before the grand jury.
