Bell, Old Prospector, Crosses the great Divide. Last Saturday afternoon Capt. Bell, the old mining man who had been confined in the Yerington hospital for some weeks, passed away, says the [Yerington] Times. His remains were taken to Schurz where the funeral took place Monday. Not much can be learned of his history, but it is known that he followed the mining game for many years, being one of the first to get into the Alaska country, and later coming to Tonopah, Goldfield and Rawhide during the excitement at these different camps. For some time he has been located in Schurz and is said to have had some mining property in this district. While in the hospital he was given the best of treatment by friends and his physician and at the last was taken care of by his step-son J.C. McGovern, who was called here from Washington State by the illness of the old gentleman.
