He was born March 15, 1924, in Shelby, Ohio, and was a resident of Pahrump for 31 years, having come from Creswell, Ore. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army and served feeding his fellow countrymen during World War II. He served faithfully in France, Belgium, Germany, Luxemburg and England. He met his bride, Arlene, through an Army buddy, while serving his country. They were married for 55 years, until her passing in 2002. He continued with his love of car repairs until his passing. He also loved country music, fishing, camping and spending time with his loved ones around the campfire. His greatest legacy is his love shared with his family. Surviving are his daughters Diona Ledesma of Rancho Cucamunga, Calif, and Gayle A. Goines of Las Vegas; sons Steve M. Haas of Sparks, Brad L. Haas of Chandler, Ariz., and Larry R. Haas and Paul D. Haas, both of Pahrump; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Blanche and Gilbert Haas; wife Arlene E. Haas; and siblings Gilbert Haas and Ruth Mulvane. Services are pending for internment at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
