Menconi, 74, was born Jan. 11, 1937, in Russellville, Ark., and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Feb. 27, 2011. She battled several cancers for the last three years. The last was brain cancer, which finally took her. Betty and her family moved to southern California from Arkansas when she was 13. She graduated from Excelsior High School in 1954. She attended Pasadena Nazarene College and began working at Sears Roebuck as a personal clerk, where she met the love of her life, Conrad Menconi. The couple were married for almost 52 years, and enjoyed many wonderful times together, including traveling throughout the U.S. in an RV, and a trip to Italy and Switzerland. She attended Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido, Calif., for 20 years before retiring and moving to Pahrump. She attended Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church for the past 14 years. She enjoyed collecting antiques, browsing thrift stores, gardening and working puzzles with her husband. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. They were the joy of her life, and she was very proud of all of them. She knew their birthdays and years in which they were born. She loved that all her grandchildren are walking with the Lord. Her children are Denise (John) Schouten, Celeste (Steve) Bradham and Jeffrey (Cathy) Menconi. Her grandchildren are Matthew, Nicole, Connor, Parker, Preston, Taylor, Anthony and Michelle. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be missed by all. In addition to her husband, Conrad, she is survived by sisters Carolyn (Bill) Johnson and Laura (David) Dokken and brother Brooks (Gwendolyn) Whiteside. She was preceded in death by her father Brooks Whiteside; mother Rheaba Whiteside and brother Ray Whiteside. Services will be at 11 a.m. March 5 at Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church.
