Pahrump Valley Times                 Feb 23, 2011
George Wilbon Rist, Jr. passed away Feb. 4, 2011, at his home in Pahrump.
He was born Feb. 17, 1917, at home in Lonoak, Monterey County, Calif.
His great-grandparents moved west in a wagon train from Minnesota to 
California in 1867.
 He was a rancher and owner operator of a fleet of trucks. If he saw a need, 
he was one to jump into action and help out.
He was a jack of many trades. He retired in 1993 and moved to Yuma, Ariz., 
where he and his wife, Edith, enjoyed retirement for the next 12 years.
Due to declining health they moved to Pahrump, to be closer to family. He was 
a proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.
 He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Dills Rist, in September 2010, a 
granddaughter in 2006, and a sister, Dorothy.
 Surviving Wilbon are his three children Arlene Rist Chandler of Pahrump, Don 
and Patty McCorkle, (nee Patricia Rist) of King City, Calif., Richard and 
Renee Rist of Lockwood, Calif., a sister, Maxine Rist Palmer of Salinas, 
Calif.; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-
grandchild.
 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the hospice or charity 
of choice.
 Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. March 4, in the Rist family plot at King 
City Cemetery, King City, Calif.
 Services will be followed by lunch at First Baptist Church, North Russ and 
King Street in King City, with a chicken barbecue, beans, bread, salad and 
drinks. Desserts are welcome.
