Israel Crawford died at his residence at 6 o’clock Monday evening. Mr. Crawford was one of Carson’s oldest citizens, and has always been prominently identified with its history. He was in days gone by one of Carson’s journalists, being proprietor of the Carson Daily Independent, and afterwards was a State Senator for two terms from Ormsby county. He was at one time President pro tem of the Senate and showed unusual ability as a presiding officer. He was at the time of his death one of the County Commissioners. Mr. Crawford was a man of considerable ability, whose opinion and advice was worthy of consideration. He was a lawyer by profession but had never practiced in this State. He leaves a wife and five children. His oldest daughter is the wife of Thomas Jones, a lumber merchant and banker in Salt Lake City. His funeral took place at 2 o’clock today, and was largely attended.
