He was aged 61 years and came to this state from Texas when but a small boy. The deceased is survived by a son and daughter residing at Oakland. He was one of the state builders, having been connected with a number of mining enterprises and other industries. He built the first telegraph line into Bodie when that camp was a maelstrom of activity. The Pratt mill, erected on Bald mountain, was operated by him for a number of years, as well as lead-silver properties in Antelope valley. Mr. Pratt was of an inventive turn of mind and a number of his appliances have come into very general use. He made his home at Carson City for the greater portion of his life.
