T. Swift, one of Carson’s oldest citizens, died in a Carson yesterday morning. He leaves a wife and two children to mourn his loss. The funeral will take place Saturday afternoon. June 2, 1888 S. T. Swift.—This gentleman, who died in Carson Thursday, was one of Ormsby county’s oldest citizens and officers, and a general feeling of sorrow seems to exist. Mr. Swift was one of the Pioneers of the Pacific Coast, one of the live stirring men of early days, both in Carson and Chicago, where his young manhood was passed, and there is perhaps no man in this State who has experienced more ups and downs than the departed. He was always foremost to assist in anything that tended to the improvement of the State of his adoption, and should have died a millionaire, but such men do not. The deceased was Sheriff of Ormsby county fourteen years; he organized the Swift Engine Company of Carson. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity; also of the order of Red Men. The funeral will take place in Carson to-day.
