Notes for Jay Allen Muncy: I have finally made contact with the VFW "Francis Muncy Post 15" of Battle Mountain, Nevada . Very interesting so far!!! Seems that Francis (American Indian Shoshone) died in WW2. His son was named Jay who had a son Named Jay Allen Muncy who was the "Only MUNCEY" to die in the Vietnam conflict. There is a settlement village of Shoshone at Battle Mountain.....not a reservation as such but apparently under the Government wing. The Father of Francis was named Jack (John?) and according to the indian agent with whom I talked "looked like a white man". Harry I am betting the group descends from "IN or INDIAN MUNCEY" who you found on the 1870/80 residence of Nevada . More later.....Now lets figure out in early history how this Muncy man arrived in Shoshone territory. I am betting he was a "Mountain man trapper". More later as this developes. Wanda, the time frame precludes these descending from the ellusive WILLIAM who was in the Arizona area after the Civil War. JAM Tthe ONLY MUNCEY who died in Vietnam. His family (sister) told me that the family had early on worked for a Muncy and had assumed that family name. Incidentally, The Vietnam soldiers uncle received the Silver Star for galentry in WW2. Battle Mountain, NV has an American legion hall named for the Munceys. 6. Jessie2 Muncy (Jack1) was born 1906 in Carson, Nevada. She married Jimmy Leach. He was born 1906.
