Nick was one the early miners on the old lode, and filled, at various times, positions of trust in several of the leading mines. Of late years he was employed in the Crown Point, and it was in this mine the accident occurred which ended his existence. The running a nail in his foot caused his death. All his friends, and they are numerous, will regret to hear of his death. He was a native of Cornwall, England, over 60 years of age. “Old Nick,” as he was familiarly called by his comrades underground, was a whole souled, good man to work with, and though years had laid a heavy hand upon him, he was always willing to do his part. All the old time miners are passing away, and it will not be long until all those who first delved in the Comstock will be under the ground forever.
