From private letters lately received the Chronicle learned that the unfortunate couple were S. Atchinson, a former attaché of the postoffice in Virginia, and his wife. They were driving on the road toward their ranch, when the horse ran away, throwing them both out of the buggy. Mrs. Atchison’s neck was broken, causing instant death. Mr. Atchison survived only three days and died from lockjaw resulting from his wound. They leave a daughter (Mrs. Mary Griffin of San Jose) and also a son about 20 years of age.
