Death of a Pioneer
A. J. Beals, the photographer, died at Gold Hill last Sunday morning, of
pneumonia, after a brief illness.  Deceased was a native of Hartford,
Connecticut, and sixty-four years of age.  He was a pioneer on the Pacific
Coast.  He arrived in California in 1852 and went to the Comstock in 1863, where
he resided till his death.
