Reno Evening Gazette September 12, 1887
The prospector who died suddenly at American Flat, last Wednesday, was a man
named Charles A. Brandt.  He was a native of Germany, about fifty years of age
and the verdict of the Coroner’s jury was that death resulted from heart
disease.  Brandt and a partner came over from California a few days ago to look
for a mine that the former discovered in 1865.
