Brown Passes Away at Virginia City Hospital After Short Illness Death Due to Lead Poisoning; Elected Short Term Commissioner Last Election Charles L. Brown, county commissioner of Storey county, died at the county hospital in Virginia City Thursday night from lead poisoning. He had been feeling ill for several days and on Thursday afternoon went to the hospital. Shortly after he was taken there he became unconscious and Thursday evening at 9:30 o’clock death claimed him. He was a native of Gold Hill, Nev., and was 43 years of age. He was elected short term commissioner of Storey county at the last election and was endeavoring to have the debt of Gold Hill paid off. He had nearly accomplished this when death called him. He was a candidate for the democratic nomination for long term commissioner and his name will appear on the primary election ballots on September 3rd. His wife died several years ago and he leaves three children besides a multitude of friends to mourn his death. He served with the U.S. Volunteers during the Spanish war and had an honorable discharge from the army. He had spent nearly his whole life in Gold Hill and Virginia City and had a large number of friends.
