Deceased had been in ill-health for a long time and had been unable to perform any labor for a number of years. He was a veteran of the Mexican war, and had recently been granted a pension for services rendered his country in that affair, amounting to a considerable sum, but had not yet received a remittance of the money. There are several other Mexican veterans in the country, but death is likely to outrun their pensions and first overtake them.
