DOUGLASS, Comstock Pioneer Is Taken By Death. Following several years of failing health, Mrs. Julia A. DOUGLASS, wife of W.G. DOUGLASS and a well known resident of the Comstock died yesterday morning at her home in Virginia City. She had a wide circle of friends here and other western Nevada cities. Mrs. DOUGLASS was a native of Gold Hill, the daughter of James and Mary KEELEY, pioneer residents of that town. She spent her girlhood days at Gold Hill and later graduated from the Virginia City schools. She also was a graduate of the old Bishop Walker school in Reno. Following her marriage to DOUGLASS she had resided at Virginia City. All of her life had been spent in the Comstock region. DOUGLASS has engaged in business at Virginia City for many years. Mrs. DOUGLASS was formerly active in the Order of the Eastern Star and prominent in the affairs of St. Paul's Episcopal church at Virginia City. Surviving besides her husband, are a daughter, Mrs. Ruth NICHOLSON of Portola, Cal., and a sister Mrs. Lucile V. PARR, of San Francisco. A brother, James KEELEY, died in March of this year. Friends are invited to attend the funeral from her late residence at Virginia City at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Rev. M.J. HERSEY of Carson City will officiate and interment will be made in Masonic cemetery. The Kitzmeyer-Elges company is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
