Death of Henry A. Jones
The Enterprise says the people of Virginia City were quite shocked Monday to
hear of the death of Henry A. Jones, brother of Senator J. P. Jones, as very few
had heard of his being ill.  It appears that his death was caused by gastritis,
or inflammation of the stomach.  He had been in poor health for a long time, but
was not taken seriously ill until three days ago.  Deceased was about fifty
years of age and unmarried.  He had been a resident of the Comstock for many
years, and was highly esteemed by all who knew him.  He was of a most kindly
disposition- a man who wished all other men well.  He died at the family mansion
at Gold Hill and Monday the flags were at half-mast in that town over the Crown
Point, Belcher and Imperial works.  His remains passed through here last evening
on the way to San Francisco.
