Edward Lamerton, one of the best known miners in this city, died Tuesday morning about 9 o’clock, following an illness of less than two weeks from nervous break down. He came to the Comstock in 1874 and had been employed in various mines. About 20 years ago he went to Butte City, returning to this city about three years ago. He was an expert in all lines of mining and a popular man with everyone who knew him, and enjoyed the esteem and confidence of his employers. He was a native of Cornwall, England, aged 57 years, and leaves a mother in England and five nephews in this city. He was a members of the Miners’ Union and his funeral will take place today at 2 o’clock from his late residence on South O street.—Virginia Enterprise.
