Reno Evening Gazette February 6, 1888
Gibson Odon; the “colored champion wood sawyer,” familiarly known as “Texas,”
died in Virginia City Saturday morning.  He was subject to epileptic fits, and
it is surmised that his death resulted from a violent attack of the malady with
which he was afflicted.
