Daily Nevada State Journal August 8, 1886
Death of John O’Leary—John O’Leary died at St. Mary’s Hospital, Virginia City,
at 8 o’clock Friday morning.  Deceased was a native of Fermoy, County Cork,
Ireland, 37 years of age.  About seven years ago he arrived on the Comstock and
was for a short time engaged as local reporter on the Chronicle.  Subsequently
he served on term as Enrolling Clerk of the Assembly and later one term as
deputy.  Latterly he was employed as chief accountant with the dry goods firm of
W. Maher & Co. at Virginia, remaining there until incapacitated from filling the
position through an attack of diabetes, which finally proved fatal.
