A Miner’s Frightful Death

John H. Sullivan, a miner engaged in the Hale & Norcross, Virginia City, while
working yesterday afternoon in a drift that connects the north and south
upraises, 115 feet above the track floor of the 700-level, was caved on by a
heavy mass of earth, and died from the effects of his injuries almost as soon as
extricated.
