DIED: FITZGERALD--in San Francisco, February 5, Mary Ann, eldest daughter of M.A. and Andrew Fitzgerald, a native of this city, age 17 years 1 month 11 days. “DEATH OF A YOUNG LADY An Accident Terminates Fatally after 4 Years Andrew Fitzgerald received a dispatch yesterday announcing the death of his daughter Mary Ann, a young lady of 17. Deceased had been an invalid four years, the cause of which was an accident that happened to her while attending school in this city when she was 13 years of age. In returning to her home from school one afternoon, she caught her foot in the rails while crossing the track near her father’s residence and in falling turned her ankle. She was sent to San Francisco some time afterward for medical treatment and remained an invalid up to the date of her death, which resulted from blood poisoning. The unfortunate young lady’s remains will be brought here for interment, and will arrive from San Francisco on the express train tomorrow.” “A BEREAVED FAMILY Dan Lyons’ Wife and 3 Children Died of Diphtheria The Herald published at Honolulu, Hawaiian Islands, announced the death there of diphtheria of the wife and three children of Daniel Lyons. The first victim of the disease was Zeripha, age 2 years and 3 months, on December 29, Lizzie, age 12 years and 1 month died the following day and Mrs. Lyons succumbed on January 1 and her eldest son on January 9. The bereaved father has not but two children left, Dan age 10 years and Florence age 6, who, with their father are sojourning at Waikiki, out of reach of the deadly scourges. Mr. Lyons is well known in this city, where he resided many years, during several of which he was business manager of the Chronicle.” 7 Feb 1890 BORN: JOHNSON--in Elko, February 3, to the wife of W. NORTHWAY--in Winnemucca, January 10, Mrs. Susan Northway, a native of Ohio, age 41 years. “A WINNEMUCCA SUICIDE E. M. Bennett, an inmate of the Humboldt County Hospital, at Winnemucca, was found dead in his bed yesterday morning. His throat had been cut with a razor, the jugular vein and windpipe being severed. A razor was found by his side and a vessel by the side of the bed was partially filled with blood. He evidently placed the vessel in a position to catch the blood before drawing the razor across his throat. Despondency produced by intemperate habits was the presumable cause of suicide.” 8 Feb 1890 DIED: DOLAN--in this city, February 7, John Dolan, a native of County Sligo, Ireland, age 60 years. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend.] “A MINER FROZEN TO DEATH William KILGORE, a miner well known in white Pine and eureka, was found frozen to death on the roadside near Bristol, White Pine County, two weeks ago. He was doing assessment work at Hillside and started to Bristol to get provisions. G. White died here about 2 o’clock P.M. today. He had been a sufferer from inflammatory rheumatism for many years. He leaves a widow, two daughters, and a son. He had held the position of Postmaster in this city for 13 years receiving his first appointment while Grant was President.
