Alexander, died at 6 o’clock last Sunday, of consumption. Mr. Alexander was a native of Maine and 50 years of age. He came to this coast in 1855 or 1856, and engaged in mining in Nevada or Yuba counties. He came to Crystal Peak in 1863, and for many years led an active and useful life. When the railroad was built he owned or was interested in four saw mills- two near Crystal Peak and two a little below Truckee. Later in life he did less business. He was engaged as watchman at a mine in Bodie for some time, and then went east for his health. He failed to find it, however, and a longing came over him for the pure air and healthy climate where he had spent so many vigorous and happy years. His life’s work had been done here, and thoughts of the strength of his prime, filled him with the hope that the breath of the pines would renew his manhood. But in vain, the seal was set and he daily grew weaker until the end. Mr. Alexander was a good man, large of frame and strong of character. His early history, perhaps, had a romance for he never married, but what it was he never to told to anyone. The funeral will take place at 2 o’clock to-morrow, from Mrs. Heulett’s residence. Died Alexander- In Reno, Nevada, June 7, 1885, Isaac H. Alexander, a native of Maine, aged 50 years.
