Old Resident of City Dead
Funeral This Afternoon of C.W. Bidwell, Who Came West With the ‘49ers
Late this afternoon the funeral of one of the pioneers of this western country
will be held.  Calvin W. Bidwell, aged 87 years, came to the west across the
plains in the days of the ‘49ers and underwent many hardships to establish a
home on the coast.  He died yesterday and private funeral services will be held
for him this afternoon at 4:30 o’clock at the residence of Mrs. F. O. Norton, a
daughter, 823 Ralson street, the Rev. Samuel Unsworth officiating.  The body
will be taken to Oakland, Cal., for cremation.
Besides the daughter mentioned, Mr. Bidwell is survived by a widow, two sons,
W.E. Bidwell of San Francisco and G.A. Bidwell of Ukiah, Cal.
When Mr. Bidwell first came to the west he located in California, but for the
last 13 years he had made his home in Reno.
