Died
Blackburn- At the residence of E. A. Versey, March 16th, 1882, George Blackburn,
a native of England, aged 82 years.

Called Away
George Blackburn, better known as Uncle Black, who has been about the Lake House
for the past ten or twelve years, died at the residence of A. A. Vesey, at 4
o’clock this morning.  About a week ago he had a paralytic stroke and has been
failing fast since that time.  The old gentleman was 82 years old and a pioneer.
 He has been in Mr. Vesey’s family for 10 years.  Uncle Black was at one time
the owner of a flouring mill at Napa City, Cal.  He worked in the machine shop
where and when the first locomotive was built in England, and used to tell many
interesting stories of his early life.  He was married and the father of 21
children, but he left his wife in the State of New York in early days and has
not seen her or any of his children since he left.  The funeral will take place
to-morrow afternoon at 2 o’clock.
