A good Citizen Gone - Brief History of the Deceased William Duck, who had lingered for a week from the time of his accidentally taking an overdose of morphine, died last night at half-past 10 o'clock. The tolling of the church bells informed the town, for which the deceased had done so much, of his death. In him we lose a good citizen and a large-hearted gentleman. Mr. Duck was a native of Stark county, Ohio, and was 56 years old. He came to the coast across the plains in 1850. He first settled at Yankee Jims, California. Here he formed a partnership with A.H. Manning, who was his partner to the hour of his death. He moved to Altain 1866, then moved to Cisco and reached Reno in 1868. He has remained here ever since. He has been an active member of the Republican party of Washoe, and was Chairman of the county central committee. To-day Reno is saddened at his loss, for he had a multitude of warm friends. The funeral will take place from the Methodist Episcopal church on Sunday next at 11 o'clock. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/nvfiles/ File size: 1.6 Kb
