Death of a Navy Veteran
James J. Doherty, a native of New York, aged 57 years, died of pneumonia at the
Arcade hotel yesterday evening.  The deceased was an old time resident of Reno,
where he leaves many friends.  He had served in the navy during the rebellion
and was a member of the G.A.R.. The General O.M. Mitchell Post has telegraphed
the sad news to his relatives in California and are awaiting a reply.  If the
relatives desire it, the remains will be sent to California for burial; if not,
the funeral will take place in Reno under the auspices of the G.A.R.
