Dies In Cell At City Jail

Tim Driscoll, Awaiting Police Court Trial, Succumbs During Night

Tim Driscoll, often seen in police court for drunkenness, will never answer the
last complaint of that kind which was filed against him yesterday.  Some time
last night Driscoll died in his cell in the city jail.  The body was discovered
this morning by Jailer Fife at 6:30 o'clock and on order of the coroner was
removed to the undertaking rooms of Groesbeck and O'Brien.  The coroner is
holding an inquest this afternoon.

Driscoll has been ill for several days.  It is believed that alcoholism killed
him.  Last night, at the supper hour, he ate the first hearty meal he has been
able to take since being in jail, and apparently was feeling better than for
some weeks.  He was a laborer, and appeared to be about 45 years old.
