Mrs. Evans was one of the few pioneers who pitched their tents in the sagebrush State in the early times. She crossed the plains in 1856, when but 16 years old and settled with her parents in Carson Valley, where she lived until 1859, when she was married to W. T. C. Elliott and removed to Honey Lake Valley, where she resided until 1868, when she removed to Reno. In 1878 she was divorced from her former husband (Elliott) and subsequently married General Orlando Evans. She had been the mother of eight children, two of whom are living, aged respectively 14 and 16. Mrs. Evans was a pioneer in its truest sense, and a woman who had seen the rough side of life as presented in early days. She was a woman greatly beloved by all who knew her, and the Gazette deeply sympathizes with her husband and two daughters in this, their dark hour. The funeral will take place from the Congregational Church at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon.
