Frazer An Old and Valued Citizen Passes Away The following from last evening’s Gazette expresses the Journal’s feelings so fully and so plainly sets forth the past life of one of Reno’s best citizens, that we republish it: Robert A. Frazer, one of Washoe county’s pioneers, died at his residence this morning, a little after 7 o’clock, of blood poisoning. He was among the best and most favorably known men of the county. He was born in Monroe, New Hampshire, October, 1834, emigrated to California in 1855, came to Carson, Nevada, in 1860, and in 1861 or 1862, came to Washoe county as an employe of Barney Clough, for whom he had worked in California. In 1868 he was elected Treasurer of Washoe county and in 1869 married Miss Jennetta W. Hastings, to whom there was born one son, Robert Hastings Frazer, now aged about seven years. Twice- in 1870 and in 1872, he was re-elected Treasurer, and in 1884, as an independent candidate, was elected County Assessor. When the county seat of Washoe county was moved from Washoe City to Reno, in 1871, he became a resident of this place, and has resided here ever since. He was among the oldest Odd Fellows in the county, of which order he has been a prominent member, belonging to the subordinate lodge and Encampment. His quiet, positive nature, honest and upright bearing, and his fairness in all business matters and with those with whom he came in contact, begot a confidence that is enjoyed by comparatively few men. In his death Reno looses one of her best citizens, the county one among her truest of men and the best of servants, and the wife a husband, and the son a father whose life has been emblematic of honesty. The funeral will take place this afternoon from his late residence, at 3 o’clock, under the auspices of Reno Lodge, No. 19, I.O.O.F.
