Tragedy Halts Elko Vacation
Wife Sought to Hear of Mate's Death

Elko, March 9, Authorities Wednesday renewed their efforts to contact Mrs. John 
Garris to tell her of the death of her husabnd, manager of the Mason Products company 
and civic leader.

Unaware of her husband's sudden illnes from bronchial pneumonia, which caused his 
death Tuesday  night.  Mrs. Garris was driving leisurely to Omaha, Neb., to keep an 
appointment with a friend on March 13.  Every effort to get in touch with her Wed. failed.

When Mrs. Garris left Elko last Thur., Garris was still in good health.  He took sick Sunday.

His daughter, Rose Marie, who attends a convent in Woodland, CA., & his son, Jack of 
Sacramento, both are in Elko.

Garris was active in civic matters & was a member of the Lions Club, Elks Lodge & the 
Chamber of Commerce.  Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
