No details other than the fact that Mrs. Gale had died reached here. Funeral services, it is understood, probably will he held in San Francisco, and the body will be cremated accoring [sic] to her wishes. Mrs. Gale was the widow of the late Albert Y. Gale, for many years one of the popular conductors of the Souther Pacific Company. She was a native of Susanville, fifty-three years of ages, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Amos Conkey, having crossed the Overland trail to California and Nevada in the early '60s. She was a niece of Mrs. Jane Lake, known as Reno's real pioneer woman. Two sisters, Mrs. Orle Whiting of Reno, and Mrs. A. Marlin of San Francisco and a brother, Ira Conkey of Los Angeles, survive. It was at the home of Mrs. Marlin that Mrs. Gale died. For several years Mrs. Gale was an invalid, being confined to a wheel chair. She took up Christian Science and through this discarded the chair and regained her health. She went into Christian Science deeply, becoming a practitioner and was known as one of the most successful practitioners in this city. She was a cousin of Dr. Alice Thompson, bacteriologist at St. Mary's hospital. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/nvfiles/ File size: 1.9 Kb
