Conductor of Sparks dies James Roffiter, pioneer Southern Pacific railroad conductor of Nevada and Utah, aged fifty years, died late Saturday night in the Southern Pacific hospital in San Francisco after an illness of three weeks. His body was brought to Reno today, but funeral arrangements have not yet been made. Mr. Roffiter was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors and for the past nine years has been running out of Sparks, his last run being on the San Francisco-Overland Limited. Before coming to Sparks he had a run out of Ogden and prior to that was a passenger conductor out of Tonopah. He entered the service as a brakeman in 1891.
