Died

  C.C. Gates, a pioneer of Washoe county, died this morning at seven o'clock 

from the kick of a horse, which he received several days ago.  Mr. Gates was a 

pioneer in the county.  In company with Mr. Stone he built the bridge across 

the Truckee at Glendale, which was the first crossing in the county.  The 

funeral will take place to-morrow, at 2 p.m., from the Methodist church.

  The population of the Truckee meadows was in town to-day to attend the 

funeral of the late C.C. Gates, who was buried at 2 o'clock this afternoon.  

The weather was very blustery and the dust flew, yet a great many ladies were 

in attendance.
