Death of J.E. Spencer

  J.E. Spencer, Indian Agent at Pyramid Lake, died on Friday night of 

pneumonia.  He leaves a wife and several daughters at the Reservation.  He was 

a native of Rochester, New York, and it is states that his remains will be 

sent there for interment.  Mr. Spencer was a highly education gentleman and a 

graceful writer.  He made a good agent, and was well liked by the Indians and 

by the white with whom he came in contact.  He has been agent at Pyramid about 

a year.
