Death Comes After 79 Years
Samuel M. Goodwin Dies in Reno at Advanced Age; Father Local Pitcher
Samuel M. Goodwin, father of Harry N. Goodwin former pitcher for the Reno
baseball team, died last evening at his home in Reno, at the age of 79 years.
Mr. Goodwin was a native of North Carolina and formerly lived in Quincy, Cal.,
where he will be buried. He is survived by his wife, Eliza Goodwin, and the
following children: Mrs. N.J. Hoffman, Mrs. William McClurg and Samuel D.
Goodwin of Quincy, Cal.; W.H. Goodwin and Harry Goodwin of Reno.
The funeral service will be held in the parlors of the Perkins-Gulling company
this afternoon at 4 o’clock.  Rev. Samuel Unsworth of the Episcopal church
officiating.  The remains will be taken to Quincy, Cal., for interment Monday.
