She was nearly seventeen years of age, and a strong, healthy girl who looked as if she had a long life before here, but she had to succumb to the dread disease, which seldom loosens its hold upon a victim. The young lady had many friends in Reno, though she had been here less than six months. She came to Reno from Boston last July. She was an interesting girl, and many a tear will drop when tidings of her untimely death are learned. The funeral will take place from Miss Harney’s residence, on Virginia street, Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock. At half-past 10 there will be a requiem mass at the Catholic vhurch. Daily Nevada State Journal November 9, 1882 A Favorite Gone The funeral of Miss Annie Hornett took place yesterday morning at 10 o’clock from the residence of her aunt, Miss M. Harney, and quite a large number of friends and acquaintances were in attendance. The hearse proceeded to the Catholic Church followed by the private carriages of many sympathizing friends, and there a requiem mass was said by Rev. Father Tormey, of Carson. At the conclusion the hearse, escorted by the following pall-bearers proceeded to the cemetery: Misses Mary Madden, Maggie Hayden, Annie Biggs, Mary M. McCormick, Ella Mills and Miss Campbell- Dennis Sullivan, Louis Queen, Wm. Noyes, John Kelley, Wm. Scott and Mr. Campbell. The funeral was a most worthy homage of respect to a young lady of whom Reno was proud. Together with a most exemplary life, she united beauty and geniality that irresistibly attracted friends. Her death was a shock to very many hearts. Peace to her ashes.
